Privacy
Your setup is yours to share. Here is how information is used.
Last updated:
This notice covers the mysetup.ai website, its connected-agent contribution service, the mysetup Mac app, the mysetup Companion app for iPhone and iPad, and the account service behind them, including sync, groups and skill sharing. mysetup.ai is operated by bit byte bit, based in the United Kingdom. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at team@bitbytebit.io.
mysetup is free to use. You can read public setups, browse the community and use the Mac app’s local library without an account. Signing in is needed to share a setup, sync skills between devices, join groups or publish skills.
Account information
When you sign in with Apple, GitHub, Google or X, we receive a provider identifier, your name or username and profile photo information to create and recognise your account. Apple, GitHub and Google can also provide a verified email address when you create an account. You can add and verify an address yourself or skip that step. Your contact email is not displayed on your public setup.
With Sign in with Apple you can choose to share your name and hide your email address. If you hide it, Apple gives us a private relay address that forwards our emails to you, and you can stop forwarding at any time in your Apple Account settings. Apple does not share a profile photo. We keep a token from Apple only so we can end Apple’s connection to mysetup.ai when you delete your account.
Sign-in does not request access to your repositories, inbox or messages, or permission to post for you. X requests read permissions for its identity lookup; we do not fetch your posts or timeline for sign-in. The Mac and iOS apps use the same accounts and open sign-in in your browser.
Your content and what becomes public
We store the drafts, setup text, images, change notes and revision history you submit so you can edit, review and publish your setup. Uploading an image sends it for processing; we store resized copies for display. Drafts and unpublished images are available to their owner through authenticated access. Agents you authorise can access your draft within the permissions you grant.
Publishing makes your chosen name, handle, summary, setup, included images and published history available to other people and agents. Your profile photo and linked GitHub or X profile can appear with your setup. Public information can appear in community listings, feeds and search, including our search provider’s index, and in the community views of our apps. Other people and search engines may keep copies.
Questions and replies you post in setup conversations are public with your displayed identity. We store conversation participation and read status to provide your private notifications. Reports you submit are stored to help review community concerns. Your following list and private feed link are account information; anyone with that feed link can read the feed, so keep it private.
Mac and iOS apps, sync and devices
The Mac app reads and manages skills in folders you choose on your Mac. Without an account, your library stays on your Mac. When you sign in, the skills you add to your cloud library are uploaded so they can sync to your other Macs. We store their instructions, supporting files, details such as source, author and licence where provided, and their version history. Earlier versions, deleted skills and unresolved conflicts are kept for a limited time so you can restore them, then removed by scheduled cleanup. This content is private to your account unless you share it through a group or publish it.
Each Mac or iPhone you connect creates a device connection on your account. It records the name you give a Mac (the iOS app uses “mysetup iPhone”), the app and permissions you approved, when it was connected and last contacted the service, and its latest reported sync status. Your devices can see this list. Sign-in credentials are kept in the Keychain on your device; we store only protected copies needed to check them.
The mysetup Companion app is for reading. It shows your library, groups and device reports while you are signed in, and clears them from the app when you sign out or switch accounts. Searching the community in the apps looks up published setups and skills on our service. If you report a shared setup, group or skill in the app, we store the report with your account, the reason you chose and any note you add, so we can review it. The person who shared it is not told who reported it. The apps do not contain advertising or third-party analytics code.
If you connect a GitHub token in the Mac app to import skills, it is stored in your Mac’s Keychain and sent only to GitHub. The Mac app checks mysetup.ai for app updates. If you install the iOS app through the App Store or TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports and any feedback you choose to send with us, according to your device settings.
Groups and shared skills
When you create or join a group, we store the group’s name, description and visibility, members and their roles, invitations, and the skill collections published to it. Published collections in a public group can be read by anyone. Private groups and their content are available only to members. Member lists and the groups you belong to are kept private, including in public groups, apart from any owner attribution a group chooses to show.
Invitations are single-use, expire and must be accepted from a signed-in account. Leaving a group, or being removed, stops future access to its private content. Skills already downloaded to a device stay there unless you remove them.
If you publish a skill from the Mac app, its title, summary, licence, source credit, files and your display name become public, with a link to your setup if it is public. You can withdraw a published skill. People who have already downloaded it may keep their copy.
Email and support
We use your saved email for verification and, only if you opt in, monthly updates about changes to setups you follow. We store your preferences and delivery records to manage that service. You can unsubscribe or remove your address in Account email settings. Unsubscribing does not by itself remove your saved address. Delivered emails cannot be recalled.
If you email support, your email address and the information you send are used to respond and handle your request. Please send only what is needed to explain the issue.
Cookies, visits and service operation
Cookies keep you signed in, protect sign-in requests and remember your appearance choice in this browser. We store sessions and connection permissions to provide account access and let you revoke connected agents and devices. If you start a conversation before signing in, your browser temporarily saves that comment draft so you can return to it after sign-in.
Requests include technical information such as an IP address and browser or app details, used to deliver and protect the service and limit abuse. Abuse limits use short-lived records derived from the address. Approximate setup view counts use a temporary identifier derived from an IP address that changes each day. The view-counting records do not store the raw address and are cleared by scheduled cleanup. A sample of service requests and error logs is recorded to help diagnose failures.
Services that handle information
Cloudflare hosts the website and account service and handles its database, file storage, image processing, search, email delivery and service logs. Website search sends your query to Cloudflare AI Search to find published setups. Your chosen sign-in provider handles authentication under its own privacy terms. Apple distributes the iOS app and provides the Keychain and browser sign-in services the apps use. Agents and devices you connect receive information within the permissions you approve; agents handle it under their provider’s terms. Following a link to another website is subject to that website’s privacy practices.
Managing and deleting information
Use the editor to correct or hide your setup. Hiding it removes it from public pages and discovery while retaining it for you. Published revisions are kept as your setup history; changing a draft does not erase earlier publications. You can manage versions from version history. Deleting an image from the editor’s image library removes it across versions.
In Connected devices, you can rename or disconnect a Mac or iPhone. Disconnecting stops its access and leaves its local files in place. Signing out of an app removes its credentials from that device.
In Account, you can revoke connected apps, remove a private feed link, change email preferences or delete your account, including from the iOS app’s account link. Account deletion removes your setup, drafts, revision history and follows, disconnects your agents and devices, withdraws skills you published and schedules removal of your synced skills. If you are the last owner of a group, you will be asked to choose another owner or delete the group first. Content you published to a group can remain available to its members. Conversation messages you wrote on other people’s setups are redacted. Unreferenced files are removed by scheduled cleanup. We keep limited records needed to complete deletion and protect the service. Skills on your own devices, and copies already saved by other people, agents, search engines or feed readers, may remain.
Privacy requests
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, restrict its use, or object to its use. You can withdraw your monthly email choice in Account at any time. Contact team@bitbytebit.io to ask about these rights or get help with a request. We may need to verify ownership before changing or disclosing account information. You may also raise a concern with your local data protection regulator.
