What I use AI for
I use AI for software development, with Codex as my daily driver.
How I work
My core setup is Codex for coding, Herdr for managing agent sessions, and Rulemetric baked into the agent workflow. Rulemetric's hooks connect it to the session, where relevant instruction and skill suggestions can sit alongside the task context. Reusable skills give the agent specific procedures when a task needs them.
I'm using Whisper more and more, but it isn't baked into my habitual workflow yet.
Agents & harnesses
- Codex (primary): My daily coding agent, with access to local files, terminal commands and reusable skills.
Terminal
- Herdr (current): Manages coding-agent sessions in terminal workspaces.
- zsh on macOS (current): The local shell available to my coding agent.
Apps
- Whisper (emerging): Increasingly part of my AI use, while I'm still developing the habit.
Skills & customisations
Rulemetric
- Rulemetric (current): Integrated through agent lifecycle hooks; surfaces instruction and skill suggestions in the session.
Personal skill library
- Code review (installed): A reusable procedure for checking changed files for concrete bugs, security issues and project standards.
- Execution reports (installed): A structured account of an implementation, validation results and departures from its plan.
Additional skill packs
- Development, browser and document skills (available): Task-specific guidance for coding, browser inspection and creating documents or presentations.
MCP connections
- Chrome DevTools (available): Gives the agent tools to inspect browser pages and check their behavior.
- mysetup (current): Lets me maintain this setup page through my agent.
